Kesari Nath Tripathi unanimously elected UP assembly's speaker

Senior BJP leader Kesari Nath Tripathi was on Tuesday unanimously elected speaker of the Uttar Pradesh assembly.

Tripathi has been elected to the post for the third time.

Earlier he was elected speaker of the 11th state assembly in 1991 and again of the 13th state assembly in 1997.

His was the only nomination filed for the post.

All the main political parties, barring the Samajwadi Party, proposed Tripathi's name.
