Islamic forces dealt a body blow: Singhal

Vishwa Hindu Parishad international president Ashok Singhal said on Sunday that the violence in Gujarat following the Godhra carnage had dealt a "body blow" to "Islamic forces".

"The Islamic forces have been dealt a body blow by the way the Hindu society reacted to the Godhra carnage," Singhal told a function in Lucknow after releasing a special supplement of the Vishwa Samvad Kendra's magazine.

"Gujarat has proved that the Hindus have awakened," he added.

Alleging that such forces were once again conspiring to divide the country, the VHP leader said: "No force on earth will be able to divide India."

On the Ayodhya issue, Singhal said there was no hurry to construct the Ram temple. "The temple will be constructed when the Hindu society becomes organised."

"No power can stop temple construction," he said, adding, "those creating hurdles in the way of temple construction will themselves be wiped out."
