Amarinder backs action against Sekhon

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday came out in support of the removal of Air Marshal Manjit Singh Sekhon as Air Officer Commanding-in-chief of the Southern Air Command, saying defence personnel should not be seeking political favours.

Sekhon came under fire after newspapers published a letter he had written to former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal seeking support to further his career.

Amarinder told mediapersons in Chandigarh that an officer of Sekhon's stature is not expected 'to stoop so low just to serve his own interest'.
