More BJP, VHP workers in riot FIRs

The Ahmedabad police have added the names of at least four more Bharatiya Janata Party and Vishwa Hindu Parishad workers to the FIRs filed in connection with the post-Godhra riots in the city.

"A few more arsonists, owing allegiance to the saffron camp have been named in the FIRs filed by the police on behalf of the state," Naroda police station in-charge K K Mysorewala said.

"Contrary to the impression being conveyed by some vested interests, we don't see which party an accused belongs to. For us an accused is an accused. The FIR has no column to enter the political or social background of an accused," said a senior police officer at the Gomtipur police station.

In Naranpura police station area, the FIR names the driver of an influential BJP leader among others.
