All-party delegation to visit Gujarat on Friday

A 21-member all-party delegation, including Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan and senior Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Somnath Chatterjee is visiting Godhra and Ahmedabad on Friday to get a first hand account of the large-scale violence that rocked Gujarat recently.

The delegation would visit Godhra, where four bogies of the Sabarmati Express were set ablaze killing 58 people.

The delegation would also include A B Bardhan (Communist Party of India), Raghuvans Prasad Singh (Rashtriya Janata Dal), Rashid Alvi (Bahujan Samaj Party), V K Malhotra (Bharatiya Janata Party), Jaya Jaitly (Samata Party), P H Pandian (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam), Palani Manickam (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam), Ananth Gite (Shiv Sena), Tarlochan Kanungo (Biju Janata Dal) Yerran Naidu (Telugu Desam Party) and Shivraj Patil and Praful Patel (both Congress).
