Release 3 TMC feet of water to Tamil Nadu: PM to Karnataka

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Wednesday intervened in the Cauvery water issue by asking Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna to release additional three TMC ft of water to Tamil Nadu.

Vajpayee called up the chief minister and requested him to release the water as a "goodwill gesture", sources in the Prime Minister's Office said.

The prime minister said the release of additional water would help the people of Tamil Nadu to tide over the difficulties being faced due to water shortage.
