M S Gill to become Fellow of Queen's College

Former chief election commissioner M S Gill will be made a Fellow of the prestigious Queen's College, Cambridge, in recognition of his contributions to "strengthening democratic institutions in India and elsewhere in the Commonwealth".

The honour will be conferred on Gill, a graduate of the Punjab University who studied for Diploma in Development Studies at Queens' University in 1967-68, at a special ceremony at Cambridge on Wednesday.

Gill, a Padma Vibhushan recipient, has served the Indian Administration Service in a number of roles in a long and successful career.
