Krishnamurthy criticises Left for nominating Sehgal

Bharatiya Janata Party president K Jana Krishnamurthy on Wednesday castigated the Communists for nominating their candidate for the post of President saying: "The left have always remained against the mainstream."

"During the period of emergency the Communists had supported the then prime minister Indira Gandhi and at the time of Sino-Indo conflict in 1962, they had a soft-corner for China," he said in Rohtak, Haryana.

The Left has picked up Colonel Laxmi Sehgal as their candidate for the next month's election to the post of President against National Democratic Alliance's nominee A P J Abdul Kalam.
