Numbers game evenly poised, says
Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray

Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Wednesday said the ruling Democratic Front (DF) coalition as well as the opposition saffron combine were evenly poised and a solitary vote could tilt the balance in the trial of strength in the Maharashtra assembly on Thursday.

Asked about the volte face by some rebel DF legislators, Thackeray told mediapersons at a press conference in Mumbai, "What can we do of such MLAs? If they want to go, they are free to do so."

Thackeray denied any coercion and 'use of force' to wean away ruling DF legislators.

"I do not get suffocated without power... forget the numbers game and enjoy wine," Thackeray said. But "there is no harm in giving it a try (toppling the DF regime)," he added.
