The leader of opposition in Maharashtra legislative assembly Narayan Rane on Friday said he was not in favour of a fresh mandate in the state as he 'did not wish the Maharashtra political scene to resemble Goa'.
Speaking to a television channel, Rane said he had not suggested fresh election as it was the general public who would then have to bear the brunt of frequent polls.
"I do not want the Maharahstra political scenario to resemble Goa," he added.
Expressing confidence that the BJP-Shiv Sena saffron combine would be able to win over 12 MLAs on its side, he said the NCP defectors were currently under flak for changing sides, but surprisingly no one was pointing fingers at political bigwigs like Chhagan Bhujbal and Sharad Pawar, who had 'switched loyalties' before.
