Sena-BJP offered me incentives: RPI minister

Republican Party of India leader and Maharashtra's Minister of State for Water Supply Sulekha Kumbhare on Friday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena combine had offered her several incentives, including a Cabinet berth, for defecting to their camp.

Sulekha, the sole minister from the RPI (Gavai) camp, said, "The opposition camp, including BJP leaders Gopinath Munde and Nitin Gadkari and Sena leader Narayan Rane, approached me to switch loyalties and offered me a Cabinet post if the Sena-BJP came to power."

"The leaders also promised to help me win the next elections if I supported them," Kumbhare said.

However, she said she was not offered any monetary incentives.

Stating that Munde and Gadkari had helped in getting certain projects in her area sanctioned when the saffron combine was in power, she said the opposition now expected her to cooperate in return.
