MiG 27 catches fire at Srinagar airport

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

A MiG 27 of the IAF on Friday caught fire while taxiing for take off, at Srinagar airport, and was completely destroyed.

The pilot suffered burn injuries and was immediately shifted to a hospital, sources said.

The incident occurred on the main runway and authorities are trying to clear the debris.

As a result of the accident, some civilian flights have been delayed.
