Political crisis in Maharashtra: BJP president censures MP chief minister

Accusing Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh of acting as an 'agent and broker' of the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party led Democratic Front government in Maharashtra, BJP president Jana Krishnamurthy on Thursday said that his party would initiate moves to form a government only after the fall of the Vilasrao Deshmukh government.

Talking to reporters in Indore, he claimed that Singh was helping his Maharashtra counterpart in spite of the fact that the DF government had lost its majority as nearly nine MLAs had withdrawn support to the government.

The BJP president alleged that the state government violated security norms at the city's Devi Ahilyabai airport by allowing buses and cars (for transporting the NCP MLAs to Hotel President) to go up to the tarmac.

He said he would ask the Union civil aviation minister to probe this breach of security norms.

A large number of security personnel have been deployed at the entrance to Hotel President, where the MLAs have been lodged, and nobody is being allowed inside.

Some window panes were even darkened to prevent photographers from taking pictures.

Meanwhile, BJP workers staged a protest outside the hotel.
