J&K: Two soldiers killed in ambush

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Two soldiers were killed when militants ambushed a patrol party of the Rashtriya Rifles in the south Kashmir district of Pulwama late on Wednesday night, police said.

Security forces retaliated but the militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

Security forces are combing the area.

Two soldiers were critically wounded in the incident, which occurred at village Arhama near Shopian, and were rushed to a hospital.

However, they succumbed to their injuries.

Two days back, the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Shopian had a miraculous escape when militants made an attempt to abduct him.
