Charge sheet to be filed in Naroda
Patiya case

The Ahmedabad police will on Tuesday file a charge sheet in the Naroda Patiya massacre of February 28, which left at least 86 people dead.

Sources in the crime branch said, "The relevant papers are with Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sukhdevsinh Chudasama. The charge sheet names 28 persons and will be filed in the court of R I Raval on Tuesday afternoon."

Among those to be charged include "a few alleged Sangh Parivar outfits".

On May 28, crime branch sleuths, under operation "Crackdown", had arrested alleged Sangh Parivar members Babubhai Rajabhai Patel alias Babu Bajrangi, Parminder Singh Rajput and Kishan Khubhchand Kooranai.

Similar to Monday's charge sheet of 50 people in the Gulbarg Society incident where, among others, former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri was killed, the charges in the Naroda Patiya case will include riot and murder, the sources said.

Meanwhile, police said it will make necessary moves to confiscate the properties of the 25 absconding people in Gulbarg Society case.
