No 'back-channel' contacts with India: Pak

Pakistan on Monday denied any 'back-channel' contacts with India and stuck to its position that there was no cross-border terrorism, while renewing its call for resumption of dialogue.

"There are no 'back-channel' contacts between the two countries. Pakistan would like to have talks with India through the official channel," Foreign Office spokesman Aziz Ahmed Khan said.

"We are ready to start a meaningful dialogue, we are going (to Kazakhstan) with a positive mind to start a dialogue process," he said.

"We are not hesitant (about resuming talks) and the international community has also supported Pakistan's desire for a dialogue," he said.

Denying cross-border terrorism, Khan said with the number of security forces India has in Kashmir, any infiltration was 'impossible'.

"They have placed sophisticated devices, they have mined the areas, they have fenced the areas, and despite that, these accusations are being made," he said.

Khan said there should be some mechanism to verify the accusations and blamed India for rejecting the proposal for neutral observers.

Replying to a question, he said despite border tension, the line of communication between the DG Military Operations of the two countries was intact.

On threats of a nuclear confrontation, Khan said Musharraf has already made it clear that neither side was 'so irrational' as to go to that limit.
