Militants kill three National Conference activists

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Three ruling National Conference activists were gunned down by militants in two separate incidents in central Budgam district early on Friday morning, a senior police officer said.

Militants shot Mohammad Sultan Bhat, village president of NC in Kantbagh in Budgam when he was returning home after offering prayers at the village mosque.

Two NC activists -- Sonaullah Khan and Wali Mohammad Khan -- were shot dead in their houses at Bachipora Magam.

No militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the killings.
