One killed, 18 injured as
militants target BSF camp

Militants made a bid to attack a security camp on Thursday morning in Srinagar but their grenades fell short of the target and exploded on a busy road near the Batmaloo bus station killing one person and injuring 18 others.

Nineteen civilians were admitted to a hospital, where one of them succumbed, hospital sources said.

Police identified the victim as Abdul Gani Bhat, but said only 12 people were injured in the explosion.

Condition of another person, identified as R M Biya, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was stated to be critical.

Pro-Pakistan outfit Al-Barg claimed responsibility for the attack and said three Border Security Force personnel were injured in the attack.

A BSF spokesman, however, denied this.
