Two JeM militants killed in Poonch

Two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Surankote area of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir early on Wednesday, senior police officials said.

They said troops launched a search and cordon operation in Boni Kheet area on Tuesday night after receiving specific information about the presence of militants there.

In the ensuing gunbattle, two ultras were killed. Two AK rifles, five grenades, one rocket and other ammunition were recovered from them.

In another incident, a civilian was killed in the cross-fire between security forces and ultras at Surankote on Tuesday evening.

Reports from Poonch said locals held a protest demonstration in Surankote town alleging that the man was killed by the security forces.
