VHP announces three-pronged
Ram mandir campaign

Pressing ahead with its temple construction plan, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Monday announced a fresh programme to start the construction of a Ram mandir at Ayodhya beginning November 15.

VHP's international general secretary Praveen Togadia told a press conference in Jaipur that in the first step over 1,25,000 Ram sadhaks (devotees of Ram) would go to each village launching dharam jagran (religious awakening) programmes.

In the second step, a Hindu sammelan (gathering) would be organised from December 2002 to February 2003, he said.

Finally, the sants (seers) would chalk out a strategy for the temple construction, he said.

Ram sadhaks from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh would be trained at Ayodhya, while those from Rajasthan would be trained in Jaipur, he said.

Togadia, who held a small gathering in Jaipur on Sunday, said the judiciary cannot decide the issue of aastha and shradha (faith and devotion).

There are two ways to resolve the vexed issue - the Muslim fraternity should give up its claim and Parliament should frame laws for allocation of land at Ayodhya as desired by the VHP, he said.
