Your Views:The decision of Election Commission to implement Supreme court's direction like basic parameters for inducting politicians will bring quality in the administration. Since most of present politicians are not eligible as per the norms, they are not willing to accept. If a clerk should possess a degree for eligibility to enter service, why not a politician? for clean & sophesticated administration, implimentation of Election commission decision is essential.

Your Views:People in Power are indeed above the Law. And for all practical purposes it is they who dictate the Law. Throughout the history this is what is proved time and again. Democracy is an "aberration" which tries to treat everybody equal which is against Darwinism. Even in the so called bastion of Democracy ( read USA), rich and powerful rule the roost. What we are seeing in India is the same "natural phenomena". Irrespective of ideology ( so called Marxists, Nehruvians,Saffrons) are all part of this natural phenomena. That is why we find criminals who are wrongly called as politicians so brazenly are trying to make us believe that good intensions of supreme court are actually bad for indian democracy. Eveerybody knows that criminals(politicians) want to keep enjoying the power forever and will fight tooth and nail to save their position.

Your Views:We can only understand this by examining the respective duties of the Supereme Court and the Parliament. The Parliament has representations from diff. parts of the country to debate and make improve the Constitution so that it serves the changing needs of the citizens. The Supreme Court is the apex authority to resolve any disputes about constitution. Can it change laws? Not sure about this one. So, can the Parliament do what it wants irrespective of what the common citizens want. I am no constitutional expert but I am sure our constitution writers put a safeguard for this. In countries like USA this safeguard is implemented in form of "Referendums" where the people decide on controversial issues. I've never heard of any such thing happening in India yet, but there absolutely has to be something that puts a check on these politicians. Else, there is a gaping hole in our constitution which needs to be filled..Oh wait a minute! who will do that :) ?

Your Views:By assuming that the lawmakers are above law, they are starting the day with hypocrisy, insincerity and dishonesty. First of all, only an unjust person is afraid of justice. So, the very fact that they have rejected EC's directives show that they have something to hide. And that is certainly not in favour of the citizen or the country. But, our politicians have sunk so much inside the dirty water of corruption, arrogance, lawlessness and ethical impropriety that no matter of arguing or persuasion would change their opinion. Because it is against their ill-conceived personal interest that they regard as their birth right. The only way to restrain them is to reject them outright. I appeal to all the citizens to reject anyone known to be corrupt or dishonest or having criminal records, during election and from all sorts of public life. Citizens must come forward, one and all, to discipline these politicians. Otherwise, how does one expect to discipline them with the help of the corrupted system nurtured so well by the politicians for their own self-interest. No one will help you unless you help yourself!

Your Views:I have very unambiguous views on this subject. First the election commission directives do not call for disqualification if the candidate is found to have a bad history. It only enlightens the voters about the antecedents of our would be representatives. Therefore our political parties need not obstruct what could be a genuine need for the voter to know his/her candidate(s). This is a great step forward taken by the commission to bring a better public life and transparency. The greater law as suggested by the political parties may never see light of the day as lumpen elements in each part with vested interests would prevent even the tabling of such a bill as they have done with the Women's reservation Bill. There should be a severe public pressure on the parties and intervention by the courts to ensure the directives of the court and election commission are followed in both letter and spirit. The political class in India cannot be above the law.

The general qualification of a politician in these lawless times is a criminal record. Your Views:No way. There should not be any differentiation between one citizen and another citizen of the country. How do you say they are the law makers when they are elected by the voter. It means the entire voting public falls under the ambit of law makers. So, let there be one law for everybody born into this country irrespective of his/her religion cast community political affiliation gender or for that matter anything.//Why do we bring the court to anything and everything everyday. The court is there to uphold the law framed by the government. If the government is constituted by the most corrupt of the society - of course elected by the people (presumably)- who can approach whom for justice. Nothing will happen.. //What EC is doing is at present is his bit to bring in as much sanctity as possible to the political system of the country and thereby trying to bring as much credibility to an otherwise non-existent government. If the political parties are trying to form a stumbling block in bringing about this change, the public should turnout en masse to bring this welcome change. Already it is too late. Mind it.. there won't be a country worth calling its name for our future generation

If candidate is having illegal links with underworld he/she should be barred from politics for 10 years. One cannot play with people's security and life and nations' pride for there interest. Your Views:I am of the opinion that once a person enters politics, he gets addicted to power - which is worse than drugs. this power corrupts them to such an extent that there is no remedy and they will also find means and loopholes to overcome even the supreme court directives. The politician can never be correct if he does not accept the mandate of the people and the judiciary. we the people hv elected them to enforce our views and work for the welfare of the masses and not to enforce their view - which will always be in the interest of the handful belonging to their own circle.

An elected candidate by criminal means is rewarded by the judiciary; ignoring ends of justice and balance of convenience; The incumbents in the judiciary are talented more in commercial negotiations than counting the balance of justice. They found the issues before them is worth for judicial consideration. but using their discretion to render piecemeal justice if found safety for their life and rights and also is highly advantageous negotiation. for them. What else do the politicians need? The issue in reality is whether it is a move to get entry at international level? or a desperate attempt to purify the politics. But people faintly remember eradication of corruption is used as a launch pad for many politician to raise up and also face charges of corruption.

The other issues where our dear politicians agree is when somebody proposes to increase their salary. We haven't come across any unanimity of this kind on any issues that concern common people. How cruel,wicked and self-serving have these politicians become my Lord. With regret I have to say that if only those terrorists who tried to bomb our parliament were successful ...... we would be saved from not witnessing this 'ugly unanimity'.

Your Views:Yes, the decision taken at the conference of all political parties. The court cannot direct the Govt. It can do interpretation of the law. It's duty is to see whether the law of the government is implemented or not. It is under the Government and not above the Government. Nowadays it is seen people are asking for the interference of the court. The court cannot interfere the Government for its time to time work. If apparently any law of the government is wrong but within the frame work of Jurisprudence and fundamental, directive of a written document, even then the court has to implement it.

And above it I am appalled to see that even people like Murali Deora and other seasoned politicians are against such a proposal. And what is this with the politicians wanting non educated people to fight elections. Clearly they want the Khmer Rouge to come in or wot. Boy oh boy, India doesn't need a Pakistan to disintegrate. The handful of politicians are more than enough. Abe saalon, abhi bhi jyaada kuch nahi bigda hain, sudhar jaaoo. Bring people like Narayan Murthy, not as the President, but as the Prime Minister, and see how he can make things better, if not best. I am sure that my rantings or grumbling will be a waste of time, but that's the best we could do. I hope one out of the thirty crore gods that we supposedly have , at least one of them comes down to this lovely country and does something for a change. Jai Hind!

When the politicians are claiming that they are doing a service to the people by taking up this post, why then they are hesitant to abide by the directive? I feel this directive will make these people not only accountable, but will not allow to hide themselves to wear a political mask to escape from crimes and criminal record. These people do not have any right to reject the supreme courts directive. Election Commission should make this mandatory and evolve a foolproof system to see that good politicians(if any)do not fall into it.

Your Views:The mentioned decision by the all party meeting is full of corrupt ideas. I feel there will be agitation soon in our country and we the younger generation will come out with some different platforms. I wonder what is wrong, if some public servant is required to disclose about his/her property !!! I also request many of the youngsters to come forward (out of our selfish cells )and take care of the nation. I was discussing this issue with many persons with national interest, hardly few of them go to franchise their right of vote, and most of us are of the opinion that , if we have a choice to reject all the candidates from the ballot paper, than more than 50% of the seats will remain vacant in out elected bodies. Why don't you (every Indian) start thinking on this line, and let us be a part of this revolution?
