The Trinamool Congress on Monday said its members would boycott the West Bengal all-party delegation, which would visit New Delhi on Tuesday to protest the proposed bifurcation of the Eastern Railway.
Trinamool leader Pankaj Banerjee said his party would not join the delegation, as it would meet only Union Minister for Railways Nitish Kumar.
Banerjee, who is the leader of the opposition in the West Bengal assembly, had earlier stated that the TC would join the delegation only if it got time from Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee or Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani.
Chief Whip of the ruling Left Front in the West Bengal Assembly, Lakshmi Dey, said that Transport Minister Subhas Chakraborty would lead the delegation, which would have members from Left Front, Congress party, Socialist Unity Centre of India and Gorkha National Liberation Front.
Trinamool Congress, which had made its joining the Vajpayee Cabinet conditional to putting off the bifurcation move, also announced its agitation programme from Tuesday.
