At least 52 people have been reported killed in a fire in Indonesia's South Sumatra province, officials said on Monday.
Most of those killed were trapped inside the Heppi Karaoke when the fire broke out on Sunday evening in the five-storey entertainment centre in the South Sumatra capital Palembang, some 420 km northwest of Jakarta.
"Most of the victims we are finding now are very charred," South Sumatra police spokesman Arum Priyono said by telephone.
Police said most of the victims were men. It was not clear if any foreigners were among the dead.
Fire-fighters finally extinguished the blaze around midnight on Sunday, after blasting a hole to gain access to the upper floors.
Police said some of those who died were killed when they jumped from the blazing building.
Many buildings in Indonesia have little or no fire-safety features. Officials rarely make checks and corruption plagues much of the bureaucracy in this sprawling archipelago.
Authorities have not said what caused the fire, although local media reported it was started by an electrical short-circuit.
