The outlawed People's War has given a two-day Andhra Pradesh bandh call for July 11 and 12 in protest against the encounter killing of eight of its cadres, including Padmakka, a senior functionary of the group.
Announcing this in a statement on Monday night, PW state committee secretary Ramakrishna, Andhra-Orissa Border committee secretary Balakrishna and North Telangana special zonal committee secretary Jampanna accused the Chandrababu Naidu government of deliberately trying to scuttle its peace talks with the PW by resorting to fake encounter killings of the group's functionaries and cadres.
The bandh call comes a day after the state government asked the PW to stop violence, extortion and movement of armed cadres across the state to create a conducive atmosphere for the next round of talks scheduled for July 20.
Earlier, on July 6, two PW representatives -- revolutionary writer Varavara Rao and balladeer Gadar -- had announced their withdrawal from the peace talks in protest against the encounter killings.
