We won't allow elections in J&K: Hizb

The pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen on Saturday claimed responsibility for Friday's killing of a politician in Srinagar and said this signalled the campaign against holding of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

"It is a beginning of anti-election campaign. We will not allow election process in the state," a Hizb spokesman told a local news agency, claiming responsibility for the killing of Awami Mahaz general secretary Anwar Hussain at his office.

Police said terrorists had delivered a letter at Hussain's residence on June 24 asking him to desist from taking part in the elections.

The outfit's divisional commander, Abu Jindal, said the killing should serve as an eye-opener to those who were interested in the election process, the spokesman said.
