Pakistan air force sets up base on
slopes of Siachen

The Pakistan Air Force has set up forward bases on the slopes of Siachen to counter Indian Air Force operations from bases in Leh, Jammu and Thoise.

Quoting PAF sources, Pakistan daily Nawai Waqt reported on Thursday that for a long time India had been using forward bases in Leh, Jammu and Thoise to provide air cover to its ground forces along the borders in Northern Areas and Kashmir.

India, it said, had moved warplanes to these bases after December last year and now Pakistan had activated its bases in Northern Areas by moving its aircraft in the bases situated on the slopes of Siachen mountain.

PAF chief Air Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir had visited forward air bases in Northern Areas on Wednesday, it said.
