"Our prime target is puppet Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah and ministers of his government," Ghulam Rasool, Pakistan-based chief of the radical Jamiat-e-mujahideen (JM) group told Reuters in Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
JeM, one of two militant groups banned in April under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA), is a member of the anti-India United Jihad Council (UJC), which is based in Pakistan.
"Apart from the top leadership, the squad has been given the task of targeting those office-bearers and supporters of the National Conference who continue to play a role in perpetuating Kashmir's subjugation," Rasool said.
He said the squad would be led by JeM deputy chief commander Tahirul Islam.
