No reason given for my removal: Thakur

Former health minister C P Thakur said on Wednesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership had given no reason for removing him from his post.

Talking to reporters after meeting Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani in New Delhi, Thakur said. "I have given my views to him." However, the former minister said he received no assurances from Advani.

Thakur, who was initially reluctant to speak, said, "No, no reason has been given for my removal from the Cabinet."

At the same time, he said he was a "disciplined" member of the BJP and would abide by any decision of the party leadership.

Asked if an actor [Shatrughan Sinha] could effectively replace a doctor [Thakur] in the health ministry, he said, "Anybody can work in any ministry."

Thakur also condemned the ransacking of the BJP office in Patna following his sacking saying, "Such incidents should not take place."
