Two Pakistanis confess involvement in Kolkata attack

In a major breakthrough in the investigation into the attack on the American centre in Kolkata, two Pakistani nationals confessed to their involvement in the shootout, before dying of gunshot wounds, Union Home Secretary Kamal Pande said.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani had said that the two nationals were arrested.

"On Sunday night, two Pakistani nationals responsible for the shootout incident in Kolkata were apprehended from Jharkhand," Advani said at a book release function in Delhi.

"Both the accused were injured while they attempted to flee and have been hospitalised. Both are Pakistani nationals with one belonging to Multan and the second to another part of Pakistan," Advani said, adding further investigations were on to find out more about them.

Motorcycle-borne terrorists had attacked the American Centre on January 22 killing four security personnel and injuring 17 others.
