Musharraf may hand over non-Pakistanis: Powell

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf does not rule out the possibility of handing over non-Pakistani criminals and terrorists in the list of 20 whose extradition India has demanded, US Secretary of State Colin Powell said on Thursday night.

"That is a judgment for the Pakistan government to make. When they are in custody or brought into custody as President Musharraf has said in his speech that he did not rule it out and in my conversation with him he does not rule this out also," Powell said, when asked about Pakistan handing over the fugitives to India.

He said Pakistan has received the list of 20 individuals that India has presented.

"India, I have been informed this evening will be presenting more information to Pakistan with respect to these individuals. And what the Pakistani authorities have said to me is that they are hoping to get more information and evidence... and as what was said in President Musharraf's speech last Saturday, appropriate action will be taken in respect of those individuals in the list who are non-Pakistanis. If they are Pakistanis and if they have committed crimes and if they come into custody or be brought into custody, action will be taken," Powell said.
