One killed, eight injured in Jammu blast

One person was killed and eight others injured, some of them seriously, when a bomb exploded in the Kanak mandi (market) area of Jammu city on Thursday evening, a police spokesmen said.

He said the explosion took place at a shop in the mandi, the biggest market in the city, at about 1900 hours (IST).

While one person was killed on the spot, eight others who received injuries were rushed to hospitals, he said.

Senior police officials have rushed to the spot and the area has been cordoned off.

An investigation into the incident has been ordered and further details are awaited, the spokesman added.
