Learn from Musharraf, regulate madarssas: VHP

The Vishva Hindu Parishad said on Saturday that India should take a cue from Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and regulate the establishment and functioning of mosques and madarssas.

"Musharraf's speech should be an eye-opener for the country. He has explained how mosques and madarssas are misused. Our governments too should take similar regulatory steps," VHP senior vice-president Giriraj Kishore told the Press Trust of India.

He expressed hope that Musharraf's action would prove helpful in checking violence both within Pakistan and outside.

Asked about the ban imposed by Musharraf on the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Tayiba, Kishore said, "It is the first step towards containing terrorism." But he demanded that Pakistan hand over all the terrorists sought by India.
