Pakistan begins crackdown on terrorists in PoK

Amid reports that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf would make a strong statement against terrorism in his address to the nation on Saturday, security forces have launched a crackdown against terrorist groups in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The PoK administration and police launched a joint operation against jihadi outfits on Thursday, Urdu daily Khabaren reported.

There was, however, no official confirmation about the report.

Meanwhile, a report in the daily Jang said Musharraf would ban all organisations, without any exception, which provided military training in Pakistan.

He would renew his government's principled policy against terrorism and extremism and announce future measures in this context, it said.

According to sources, Musharraf may also request Kashmiri terrorists to provide India and Pakistan an opportunity so that they could resolve the issue through negotiations.
