Advani slams Pakistan, vows to finish terrorism

Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani slammed Pakistan on Wednesday for its continued support to terrorist organisations and said India would fight "Pak-sponsored cross-border terrorism to the finish."

Advani used the first day of his US tour to initiate a diplomatic campaign against Pakistan.

Nearly a month after the devastating attack on the Indian Parliament, the two countries are at the brink of war.

Advani called for immediate action from Pakistan against militant organisations active in Kashmir and elsewhere in India.

"Pakistan must act -- sincerely, decisively, demonstrably and speedily," he said in a statement distributed to reporters at a press conference.

The demands included the handover of 20 militants and the closure of training camps, arms supply routes and funding of terrorist groups on Pakistani soil.

Secretary of State Colin Powell, who met Advani for talks on the US anti-terror fight and boiling South Asian tensions, said he would head for India and Pakistan next week and called on Islamabad to intensify its crackdown on militants.
