ISI ring busted in WB, top Pakistani
agent nabbed

An agent of the Inter-Services Intelligence and four of his accomplices, sent to collect sensitive information on army installations, were on Friday arrested in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district, Home Secretary A K Deb said.

Mohammad Dilshad, 32, who hails from Hyderabad in Pakistan, was arrested as he was heading for a telephone booth at Matigara, Deb said.

Dilshad confessed that the ISI had asked him to collect information on 33 Corps Army Headquarters in Siliguri and other vital army installations, he said.

Based on statements given during interrogation by central and state intelligence agency sleuths, a subsequent raid on Dilshad alias Raju Ahmed's Adarshnagar rented house in Siliguri netted four of his accomplices, also working for the ISI, Deb said.

One of the four was a cleaner based in the 33 Corps Army Headquarters, he said.

The raid led to the recovery of half a kilo of RDX, a grenade, arms and floppy disc on army installations, restricted army maps, army special train movement maps and pocket diaries listing a large number of telephone numbers in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, Deb said.
