A day after China urged the United States to support the efforts of Pakistan to seek peace and dialogue with India, President George W Bush on Friday said his administration was "working hard" to resolve the Kashmir issue.
"My administration is committed to peacefully resolving issues around the world... We are working hard to bring a peaceful resolution in Kashmir," Bush said in Beijing.
Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Kong Quan said on Thursday that Bush, during his talks with his Chinese counterpart Jiang Zemin, discussed the Indo-Pak military standoff.
"President Jiang Zemin hoped that the US will work on both Pakistan and India, and in particular he called on the US to support the efforts of Pakistan to seek peace and dialogue," Kong said.
"President Jiang and his counterpart had an exchange on the situation in the subcontinent," Kong said.
