Afghanistan's interim prime minister, Hamid Karzai, would travel to Islamabad on Friday to hold talks with President Pervez Musharraf.
Announcing Karzai's visit, foreign office spokesman Aziz Ahmed Khan told reporters that the occasion would be a matter of pleasure and honour for Pakistan.
Karzai's visit would end a sense of disquiet being felt by the Musharraf government after the fall of the Taliban regime and the subsequent visits of three top Afghan ministers to India.
Those who visited India soon after the interim government was installed in Kabul included Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah, Defence Minister Mohammed Fahim and his deputy Abdul Rashid Dostum.
High on the agenda during Karzai's visit to Islamabad would be the return of around 2 million Afghan refugees currently in Pakistan as well as Pakistan's role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
