Militants continue to hold Sopore mosque

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

The siege of the mosque in Sopore in northern Baramulla district, which has been taken over by two militants, continued on Monday morning.

According to a senior police officer, the militants fired intermittently at the security forces on Sunday night.

Announcements are still being made asking the militants to surrender, he said.

All exit routes around the mosque and in the village have been sealed, he added.
