PDP leader, PSO shot dead by J&K militants

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Militants on Friday shot dead a block president of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and his security guard at Dudhbagh in Jammu and Kashmir's northern Baramulla district.

The PDP is the party floated by former Union home minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Police said the militants shot at PDP leader Sheikh Sadiq and his PSO Manzoor Ahmed on Friday afternoon from close range killing both on the spot.

Security personnel rushed to the spot and began combing operations, they added.
