Pakistan continues shelling along border

Pakistani troops continued to target forward defence positions in the Drass and Batalik sectors with artillery and mortar shells, a defence official said in Jammu on Friday.

However, there was no damage to life or property in the shelling and firing, which started on Thursday evening, the official said adding the Indian side responded effectively.

Sporadic small arms firing was also reported from some sectors in Rajouri and Poonch districts, he said.

Intermittent exchange of fire was reported in Samba, Akhnoor and R S Pura sectors on Thursday night, the official said.
