Senior Indian Police Service officer Ravi Kant Sharma, prime suspect in the murder of the Indian Express special correspondent Shivani Bhatnagar and evading arrest, has been traced to Himachal Pradesh, Delhi Police Joint Commissioner (Crime) U K Katna said on Wednesday.
He told reporters that a team of Delhi Police has been sent there, but did not disclose the exact place where Sharma was sighted.
Meanwhile, a Delhi court issued a non-bailable warrant against Sharma.
Metropolitan Magistrate J P Narain issued the warrant on an application by the Crime Branch of Delhi, which said that Sharma is evading arrest in the case.
A Panchkula Court in Haryana had rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Sharma on Tuesday.
Besides Sharma, the police are also looking for Satya Prakash, a Gurgaon-based property dealer and an unidentified person, for allegedly murdering Shivani on January 23, 1999 in her flat in east Delhi.
Two persons -- Pradeep and Sri Bhagwan -- have already been arrested and have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime.
Both of them in their disclosure statement had told the police that the conspiracy to murder Shivani was hatched by Sharma.
Pradeep had entered the apartment making a fake entry at the gate and his handwriting has matched with that in the register.
