Omar Abdullah offers to resign

Onkar Singh in New Delhi

Minister of State for External Affairs Omar Abdullah on Tuesday handed over his resignation to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

This follows his party National Conference's decision to abstain from voting on the Gujarat motion in the Lok Sabha.

Omar Abdullah told Star News that the prime minister has asked him to reconsider his decision.

"I have given my resignation letter to the prime minister...now it is up to him to accept it or reject it," he said.
