TDP to decide stand on censure motion in the evening

Syed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad

The Telugu Desam Party's politburo will meet on Tuesday evening to decide its stand on the opposition-sponsored censure motion on Gujarat.

The party politburo met for an hour in the morning and decided to meet again at 6 pm.

The party, it is understood, will await Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's reply to the debate in the Lok Sabha before announcing its decision.

State Home Minister T Devender Goud told newsmen that the party stood by its four demands on Gujarat. These are -- the removal of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, immediate restoration of peace in the troubled areas, rehabilitation of victims and withdrawal of the move to hold early elections.
