One killed in IED blast in Doda district

At least one person was killed and several injured when militants triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast beneath a bus at Garatmore in Ramban area of Doda district, in Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday morning.

The overloaded bus was heading towards Ramban from Gool area in Udhampur district. As the vehicle reached Garatmore, ultras hiding on a nearby hilltop triggered the IED, which was planted on the road, police said.

The driver of the vehicle died on the spot while several persons were injured in the blast.

Local authorities have launched a rescue operation to evacuate the injured to different hospitals and senior police officials have rushed to the spot, police said and added that a manhunt is on to nab the ultras.

Further details are awaited.
