The Punjab government has announced the appointment of a one-man commission to probe charges of corruption against the Prakash Singh Badal government.
The commission, to be headed by retired judge of the Punjab and Haryana high court A S Garg, has been given six months to submit its report to the Punjab government, an official spokesman said.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
"We had made corruption an issue during the poll campaign and we are going to fulfill our promises," Singh told newspersons while answering questions on the Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu case.
The Congress had levelled several charges of corruption against the Badal government and particularly against members of his family.
Badal in turn had filed three civil suits against Captain Amarinder Singh for damages. The cases are still to come up for hearing.
The chief minister also promised that the campaign against corruption would not end with the Sidhu case.
Badal could not be contacted as he was travelling in his home constituency.
