The Bharatiya Janata Party is going to hold its national executive meeting on Friday in Goa.
The meeting has evoked considerable interest, especially in the background of calls from National Democratic Alliance partners for the ouster of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his handling of the law and order situation following the recent communal riots.
For the BJP in Goa, where it is in power, the eyes are set on a huge rally, to be addressed by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other top party leaders on Friday evening.
Vajpayee's rally would launch the party's campaign for the assembly polls scheduled next month.
"Goa will begin a new chapter, showing the road towards victory," Laxmikant Parsekar, the local party unit president said.
Though they are little worried because of the ongoing communal tensions in Gujarat, the Goa leaders feel that one impressive rally by Vajpayee and Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani could change the minds of the voters.
BJP president Jana Krishnamurthy, who arrived on Thursday morning along with other office bearers, will inaugurate the meeting at 4 pm on Friday, before they proceed for the public rally.
