Six people -- four Central Reserve Police Force personnel and two civilians -- were killed and some jawans injured when armed militants attacked a CRPF party at Pangei in Manipur's Imphal East district on Tuesday, official sources said.
Armed gunmen fired at a CRPF party escorting a water tanker at Pangei, about 15 km from Imphal, killing four jawans on the spot.
In the exchange of fire, two civilians, including a girl, were killed, the sources said.
Senior security and administrative officials have rushed to the spot.
