Four killed in Ahmedabad;
curfew in Vatva, Sabarmati

Four persons were killed, three in police firing, in the violence that erupted late on Friday night in Vatva, Sabarmati and Karanj police station areas even as incidents of stabbing and arson were reported from other parts of Ahmedabad.

Indefinite curfew was imposed in Vatva and Sabarmati police station areas after midnight.

Police said five rounds were fired and several teargas shells burst to disperse violent mobs in Vatva labour area. Two persons were killed in the firing and four others injured.

Police opened fire to disperse stone pelting groups in Kalupur area in the walled city.

One person was killed in police firing in Jawahar chowk area under the Sabarmati police station.

One person, injured in a stabbing incident in Relief road area, succumbed late on Friday night, police said.

A 35-year old man, belonged to the minority community, was stabbed to death in Visnagar in Mehsana district. He had been taking shelter in the town after his sister went missing in the February 28 violence.

On Friday night, houses belonging to members of the minority community were stoned and students belonging to the community, who shifted to Visnagar after their hostel was destroyed in the February 28 violence, were also targetted.
