Indefinite curfew in Lunavada following communal clash

People belonging to different communities on Friday clashed over a road accident in Lunavada town, about 40 km from Godhra, prompting authorities to impose indefinite curfew.

The accident between a rickshaw and a tractor resulted in a standoff as the vehicles were being driven by men of different communities, leading to stone-pelting, police sources said.

Police resorted to a lathicharge to disperse the mob and arrested three persons, they said.

Three crude bombs were recovered from the arrested persons, they added.

Curfew has been imposed in the town as a precautionary measure, police said.
