One killed in police firing in Modasa, curfew reimposed

One person was killed and another injured in police firing at Modasa town in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat as large-scale violence broke out during curfew relaxation on Thursday, district police sources said.

The violence broke out after a person belonging to majority community was injured in stabbing.

A scooter and a tractor were set on fire by the mob, which also indulged in heavy stone-throwing, prompting the district authorities to reimpose indefinite curfew in the town.
